San Francisco’s Tilden Hotel near Union Square is an Art Deco jewel. Designed by Brooklyn-based design firm Studio Tack, the 118-room boutique hotel celebrates art and design with its minimalist furniture and glossy black accents, reflected in both the guest rooms and the wonderfully uncluttered lobby.
Elsewhere, the hotel has a newly updated outdoor backyard with a fireplace (roasting smores is recommended), locally sourced mini retail bar, an on-site coffee shop serving Equator Coffee espresso drinks and drip coffee and The Douglas Room, a bar and restaurant with innovative bites and cocktails—try the Philly cheesesteak and duck confit wings—and what is possibly the tastiest cheese platter downtown…By Laura Parker
