This Is Tilden

Hotel is temporarily closed through 06/30/20. But we are available to answer any questions or assist with your travel needs for stays after 06/01/20.
We hope that you and your loved ones are staying safe and healthy.

The Tilden Hotel celebrates the Tenderloin’s authentic spirit—one rich in artistry, culture, and history—to connect guests with its dynamic community. Pieces from local artists dress the walls to commemorate the hotel’s beginnings as a communal space for creativity. A refined aesthetic composed of mid-century modern furniture, rich textures, and warm woods exudes serenity and sophistication. As guests revel in this surprising oasis, they learn the origin of the hotel’s name. Honoring Douglas Tilden, a famous San Francisco sculptor, the space continues to pay homage to its artistic heritage. The hotel established Tilden Tuesdays to support local artists by hosting seminars and displaying their work. Original pieces dress the lobby walls, offering the community a dedicated space for self-expression. Dedicated work spaces accommodate business travelers; a full restaurant and cafe feature globally-inspired menus to satisfy every culinary taste. Discover our artsy San Francisco boutique hotel near Union Square, and your own artistic flame.

Tilden Tuesday Art Program

The San Francisco Bay Area, is a mecca for artists and creative expression. Tilden Hotel is committed to not only engaging with the community, but also in helping shine a light on the emerging artists that live here. We want to provide a space for thought and respectful discussion where diversity is embraced without judgment. Tilden Hotel was named after Douglas Tilden, the sculptor who created the Ball Player in Golden Gate Park, Admission Day, Mechanic’s Monument, and many more. In that spirit we created a Tilden Tuesday event series.
